• Color-Coded Magnetic Temperature Strips For At-A-Glance Identification Of Thermal Issues.

The HotLok® Temperature Strip is a liquid crystal thermometer with an acrylic self-adhesive backing that quickly and accurately measures the intake air temperature of IT equipment. It indicates whether the air temperature is within acceptable limits based on the standards established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and equipment manufacturers. Measurement of equipment intake air temperature is used in the management of all elements of cooling infrastructure such as the number and type of perforated tiles or grates, cooling unit temp set points, and cooling unit airflow volumes. Sold in Pack of 10

    ASHRAE Recommendations

ASHRAE recommends monitoring the supply temperature at the bottom, middle and top of each server cabinet to ensure proper readings at each level. However, this can be very expensive using other monitoring methods. Low-cost, magnetic temperature strips can quickly and easily be placed directly onto the doors of server cabinets, blanking panels or other flat surfaces.

  • Data center managers who are serious about maximizing their cooling efficiency know that using blanking panels in unused rack spaces is critical for aisle containment. An overlooked final step in efficiency is sealing the space under server cabinets. Data centers that incorporate hot and cold aisle containment have pressure differentials between the aisles. This pressure can cause the gap below server cabinets, which is often 2” or more, to become an air stream between hot and cold aisles. The resulting mix of air reduces the effectiveness of a containment solution. The Cool Shield Magnetic Cabinet Skirt provides an easy fix for this issue.  These lightweight strips install in seconds and are scored to allow them to easily adjust to cover gaps from 1” to 3.5”. Placing them at the floor level across the front or back of the cabinets and along the sides of row ends will prevent air mixing below the cabinets. Studies have shown this simple application can impact aisle temperatures by 5 to 8 degrees and thousands of dollars in energy savings.

  • The Cool Shield AirStrip expanding foam tape prevents unwanted air loss from gaps in contained aisles, server rack rows and data center infrastructure. Use strips above or below containment panels, next to rack rails, under server cabinets or in gaps in raised flooring. Filling gaps significantly improves cooling efficiency by preventing bypass airflow and hot air recirculation.

Use expanding foam for gaps ranging from ¼” to 1 ½”. In addition, compressed strips gradually expand to fill gaps and reach maximum thickness. Strips feature an adhesive on one side making installation to nearly any surface quick and easy. Finally, simply peel off the protective paper and adhere the strips directly to one edge and wait for the foam to expand to fill the gap. Foam material is durable, fire retardant and non-particulating which makes it ideal for data center use.

  • CS-AirStrip-VP6-15 The Cool Shield AirStripTM is an innovative, multi-purpose solution for sealing open spaces in and around server cabinets. Filling blank spaces and gaps prevents air mixing between supply and exhaust air within the cabinet. This improves cooling efficiency in cold aisle/hot aisle layouts and can be critical to the effectiveness of aisle containment. The melamine resin foam base material is made 99.9% airtight by heat sealing both sides. Multiple individual strips are fused together to make one panel. This fusing process results in no air loss between strips. Strip can be easily separated as needed. BP Panels feature a slit along the sides of each panel allows them to quickly slip over standard 19” mounting rails. With the 9U BP Panels blanking an entire cabinet takes less than one minute to install. As cabinet is populated, simply remove the strips in those rack positions and re-purpose them in another location. VP Panels are 48” tall perforated into six 1” wide strips. They are also scored vertically every 2” so they can be cleanly separated to fit just about any size gap. Sealing the gaps next to rack rails, between cabinets and at the cabinet base can have a huge impact. Studies have determined that up to 30% of exhaust air can re-circulate to the front of cabinet if gaps are not properly sealed. This situation can significantly impact the effectiveness of hot aisle/cold aisle layouts and containment solutions. It can also undermine the ability to raise CRAC set points which prevents significant energy savings.
